Dear Burlingame Families,
Welcome! I am thrilled to begin my professional school leadership career at Burlingame Jr/Sr High School. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve your students and community in this role. I bring to you 10 years of teaching experience from three different Nebraska school districts including one of the smallest, and one of the largest in the state. Additionally, I have multiple years experience coaching junior high sports, including volleyball, basketball and track. While Kansas is a new adventure for me, I bring with me my beautiful wife Shawna, who is from Lyndon and our soon to be four year old daughter Elliette and seven month old son Jace.
First, I would like to welcome any new families we have to Burlingame as well as everyone who is returning to the district. Our mission is to deliver exemplary education for all students, instilling in them the academic knowledge, courage, attitude, and character required to be responsible, fulfilled, and productive citizens. I am a firm believer that it takes a community to raise a child, a belief that has been reinforced over the districts I have been a part of. Burlingame and Osage County residents are rich in tradition, they carry pride in their community, and their heritage is rooted, stable and strong. In addition to teaching, educators have the amazing opportunity to not only teach our children, but to help them grow as productive citizens and leave a lasting, positive impact on a student's life.
As your principal, I promise to always keep our students at the center of every decision we make as a school. Myself and the staff at Burlingame will teach with confidence, passion and tools to shape a mindset that prepares our children for a successful future. It will be our responsibility to teach and meet the needs of every child instructionally, socially and emotionally. We will foster an environment that supports problem solving and curiosity. We will develop grit, and we will learn to face challenges with confidence and perseverance.
I look forward to meeting you all. Go Bearcats!
Your Principal,
Taylor Montgomery
